This safe, effective modality is in danger of being over looked in the coming health care reform and it will only be through joining hands and working together that this underfunded healing modality will be recognized for the excellent healing modality it is.
To this end, we need your help.
From reflexologists, our clients and others to insure reflexology is not overlooked. We need a little of your time to communicate with your elected representatives and those responsible for this coming change.
Senator Harkin, in an Opinion piece entitled "Shifting America from sick care to genuine wellness" (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ynews/20090625/ts_ynews/ynews_ts408) is signaling, along with President Obama and others, a change of direction and a modality as effective and cost effective as reflexology should be included.
Note what Senator Harkin writes "It’s not enough to talk about how to extend insurance coverage and how to pay for health care – as important as those things are. It makes no sense just to figure out a better way to pay the bills for a system that is dysfunctional, ineffective, and broken. We also have to change the health care system itself, beginning with a sharp new emphasis on prevention and public health".
Senator Harkin, who is the lead Senator in drafting the Prevention
and Public Health section of the landmark health reform bill is one
of those responsible for the coming change and together with
President Obama and House Speaker Pelosi and your State representatives
need to hear your testimony regarding the effectiveness of reflexology.
Our approach is simple, honest and straight forward. Reflexology offers the most cost effective approach to prevention and wellness since, according to major medical centers, reflexology effects not only the primary concern, but also stimulates the whole person toward wellness.
Major medical centers are endorsing their in-house reflexology programs
as effective for many, many conditions including the big three ---
circulation, stress and inflammation which are implicated
as contributing factors in so many illnesses.
Given the wide range of conditions treated, how can reflexology not be considered for inclusion in this coming re-focus of priorities
in health care in the United States?
Simple, reflexology remains the best kept secret
in health care and wellness.
Our job is to insure that doesn't happen and since we can't afford lobbyists, the best way is a letter writing campaign over the internet by those concerned with the future of reflexology.
Even though reflexology is one of the fastest growing healing modalities in the world, reflexology is simply inaccessible to many people because reflexology is not recognized nor covered by insurance in many states.
However...
However, there is a precedent. Reflexology IS recognized and billable to insurance in at least one state; Tennessee and this is our goal and aspiration, that Americans are given freedom of choice in their health care to choose what works best for them and that reflexology is recognized as a viable healing modality in itself billable to insurance in all States as part of national health care reform.
You'll recall when you first heard of reflexology. It was a bit hard to believe how effective reflexology can be by "just rubbin feet". However, the proof is in the puddin' which is why we need your testimonials sent to your elected representatives as you can be sure they will pay attention to a growing amount of mail and publicity over the next two months.
Did I mention that? President Obama wants to see a health care reform bill passed into law by the end of August. That didn't happen so we still have time to make our case during this time or the moment in time will be lost. If reflexology is not included in this coming health care reform, it will be a long time before another opportunity presents itself.

Everyone needs to contact President Obama, Speaker Pelosi and Senators Reid and Harkin with the links below. As leaders, they are responsible to all the people so all of us can contact them. Then follow the Senate link, type in your zip code and it will tell you who your representatives are. Click on their names to send your message. Personalize, then copy the suggested form letter and then follow the links to your National and State representatives for your State. Fill out their e-mail forms, paste in your copy and hit the "send" button.
You're done and have forwarded the cause of reflexology.
When you have more time to help, click on the State link and contact your State representatives. Don't know who they are? Not to worry. Put in your zip code and you will be led to your reps. Please contact them the sooner the better as the clock to decision time is ticking away.

1) Medical Centers consider reflexology safe and effective.
2) Medical Centers say reflexology treats the whole person, not just a single symptom.
3)This makes reflexology very cost effective and preventative which are goals of this administration.

I am very concerned that the healing modality called “reflexology“ is being overlooked in health care reform considerations. I personally attest that I have found reflexology very helpful addressing my health concerns.
As a tax payer, I’m interested in getting the most value for my tax dollar and I am writing to request you champion reflexology in upcoming health care reform.
A website (reflex4usa.com) has been set up with links and further information to help you easily access more information as to why you would want to champion our cause. Cost effective results based around prevention and wellness may be your primary interest.
